Jason is doing pretty great. While things are not perfect, we are really proud of his hard work and his overall positive attitude.
As of today he has 4 A's and 2 B's at school, with just a week left until the end of his school year. He has a bit of homework left to finish up, so he is really hoping he can pull one of those B's to an A and receive the reward we promised him if he does it - an iTouch. We will keep y'all posted on his accomplishment. (In the picture you can see the improvement just since last report cards.)
Last week we went to “Honor’s Night” at his school and Jason received the Outstanding Student award from his Art teacher, Mr. Deaton. It was awesome! He hasn’t even been there all year.
New glasses were a necessity for school. We got comments from teachers and the school nurse about his squinting. We didn’t need the prompting, we had noticed it ourselves. He had glasses in Utah, but didn’t have them very long before he lost them. The new ones are more stylish, so we hope that helps prevent loss.
He also got to bleach his hair. He is now a blonde (with auburn shades). As an interesting note, his hair helps contribute to his good grades. Ramses has threatened that if he gets a zero for failing to turn in an assignment at school, Ramses gets to cut an inch off his hair. So far, it works!
He is trying to save money, so our neighbor, Amanda, offered to hire him for yard work. She also hired him and Ramses to cut down some monster bushes in her yard. Thus, Jason got to use a chainsaw. It was a lot of work, but he did a good job. And helped rid the town of an evil Juniper tree.
A family friend recently had her first child, and we were invited to her parents’ home to witness the baby blessing. After dinner I was holding little Tayton and Jason touched his head. Apparently he’s never touched – or held – a baby and was amazed at how soft he was. With a little instruction we handed the baby over. It was adorable.
What can I say? We love the kid!
